To celebrate the new article that is just now being released in the Arabella Magazine we have decided to make more people aware of Michael’s Facebook page and his “Daily Drawing” which he tries to post everyday. The more things you do with this contest – the more entries you will have. You can even go viral and share a link that will give you extra entries. There will also be drawings to choose from if you are the lucky winner. The drawings will be loaded on this page along with the details of each. The contest starts with 3 winners – however we will increase the number of drawings and winners for every 500 entries over 1500 up to 10 lucky winners. Make sure that you enter this Drawing Contest.
I have uploaded 20 drawing to this page. If you see something you like (there is only one available of each) and can’t bear to let someone else have it then by all means go ahead and purchase it. (each one has it’s own paypal button) If you are a lucky winner – then you will have your funds returned to you at the end of the contest or you can choose another to add to your collection. All of the funds that are raised through this promotion will used directly for molding and bronzing Michael’s ceramic sculptures.
Mobile Users can use the widget in the side bar to enter the Drawing Contest.

Many of Michael’s works explore the concept flight. It is a recurring theme in many of his sculptures, drawings and paintings. This first gallery includes a newly released painting called American Crawl. It is an 8 x 10 inch acrylic on panel painting that depicts a man swimming in the aether.
This second gallery contains a few more conceptual drawings with the recurring theme of flight. These have all been done in the last year!
This final gallery contains a few paintings, drawings and sculptures that explore this same concept of flight.
Flight Series: Three thoughts about flying:
The most terrifying feat a person can commit is an act of pure creativity. It should never be confused with acts committed upon us that are beyond our control such as; tortured homelessness, starvation and rampant climate destabilization. While creativity is not beyond our control it definitely has no certainty of outcome… such as death.
Flight is a perfect metaphor for my art as a whole. The boundless freedom of the soul is given the opportunity of meaning by the weight of flesh.
My first introduction to flight as a child was not running outside to the sound of an airplane and watching in amazement – though I am of an age and a geographical region where that certainly could be true. My first awakening to flight was in lucid dreams, it was a reality more real than the agreed upon. I flew – I had rules which governed my freedom and whether mine or someone else’s they did not lessen the joy.
In reflection, I believe reality is bounded by the contracts we make, and just as our prisons are defined by our bars so are our freedoms.

“Physically Speaking” is what figurative art is all about. A huge part of what we know about people is derived from their physical demeanor. Anatomy is psychology, psychology is spirit. My underlying exploration in art is creativity. Without creativity I do not believe the word spirit has any meaning at all. Creativity is a word who’s definition I am hung up on. What creativity is not; is the ability to combine disconnected ideas yielding something new, or random flamboyance, or loud incompetence, or madness. Creation is an act of magic. The production of something that did not exist before – much like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
The idea of creativity is a revolt against a mechanistic universe. Something happens in an act of creation that is not cause and effect. That’s the whole point. To “Create” according to Marion Webster – is to bring into existence. As the macro – so the micro, who created the creator? Without creativity, concepts that would be rendered meaningless are not hard to find. for example; personal responsibility, philosophical meaning, or the idea that art as anything other than a bumper sticker for a meme Creativity is a beauty that shines through everything. It is the “Higgs Boson” of the spirit. Creative spirit, and the body are as beautiful as they are mystical.
